Switzerland/United States, April 9, 2024: The International Security Ligue and the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) today launched a global contest for individuals working in the private security industry, asking them to share online what they enjoy about their work and awarding cash and other prizes for the most persuasive and creative Internet posts. Entry forms and complete rules are at the contest website, www.whysecuritycontest.org
"So many people have an outdated and mistaken notion about what working in private security is like, so we wanted the people who know best—the individuals who work in the industry—to share with others the benefits of a security career,” explained Stefan Huber, Director General of the International Security Ligue.
“It’s all about giving security workers their do and making people aware of the valuable service they provide—and we hope that it might encourage others to consider a career in the private security industry.”
Worldwide, there are concerns about the supply of labor in the private security industry, and it could threaten its ability to meet the growing need for security services in the coming years, according to Huber. “Studies show that individuals working in security find it rewarding and interesting, but that is not always the message that people hear. We want people to see how diverse the profession is, to understand how important the jobs are, and to see how much people enjoy their work.”
Any type of online post is allowed, including video, blog post, or illustration. After posting publicly online, individuals share the link via the entry form at the contest website, with $500 going to the winning entry. Runners-up will receive gift cards or a free year membership to the IFPO.
